Rhode Island Class A/B (by ICC)

Instructions to take the Rhode Island Class A/B UST Operator Training

Since UST Training is not yet approved in Rhode Island, we recommend you take the certification exam through the International Code Council and Pearson Vue.

Here are the steps.

  1. Register and pay for the exam by either calling 800-275-8301 or going to and then click on “Login” and then “Sign into your account” on the next screen to register for an account, or also by going to: and select “Computer-Based (Pearson-Vue)” from dialog box choices and then click on “Add to Cart”. Then proceed with checkout and account registration. Make sure you sign up for the Class A/B Operator exam (code: RD) and not the Class A only and Class B only. The cost of the exam is $85.00/person.
  1. The exam is computer-based and you must go to an approved testing center in order to test. The Rhode Island testing center is located in East Providence (36 Hemingway Drive) and is open Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday.
  2. Take the exam. Upon passing, Class A and Class B operators must also register with the RI DEM as certified operators for their facility. You must submit a copy of your ICC certificate and the RI DEM registration form by mail to: RI DEM- Office of Waste Management, 235 Promenade Street, Providence RI, 02908
  1. Once completed, follow your company procedure for submitting a copy of your certificate of completion.
