Instructions to take the North Carolina UST Primary Operator Training
Since North Carolina no longer approves third party trainers, you will be taking a free online course provided by North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ).
Here are the steps.

Go to https://ncgov.csod.com/client/ncgov/default.aspx. If you already have an account, log in. If not, click on “Click here to create an account” and when you have filled in information in all fields in the next screen, click “Login.” (You do not need to enter an “EE Code.”)

In the next screen search for the word “tank” in the search tab at the top right corner and then click on “DEQ – Underground Storage Tank Online Primary Operator Training”. Then click on the “Request” button in the next screen.

On the next screen, fill in additional contact information in each box. BE SURE to list the facility names and ID numbers for ALL facilities you want to be trained for, then click “Submit.” On the next screen, click “Register.” Then click “Launch” and a separate window should appear where the training will take place.
- Take the online class and pass the exam.You may print your certificate upon completion of the course.
- Once completed, follow your company procedure for submitting a copy of your certificate of completion.
