Have lots of UST operators? Need expertise managing your training efforts? We offer statewide, regional or national UST operator training solutions at no extra cost.
If you operate USTs in more than one state, you probably know by now that UST rules can vary a little or a lot, depending on what state your USTs are in. So it probably comes as no surprise that each state has a fairly strict approval process for us vendors of Class A/B and C UST operator training. Which is good so you know you get good training but it also explains why it’s hard to find a one-size-fits-all course.
Here at UST Training, we’ve been working to get our Class A/B course approved in every state and territory that allows third-party vendors. We’re currently A/B approved in 24 states including Indian Country and are securing approval for the remaining 8 states by early 2020.
What about the other states? A number of states have either free training (live or online), have a sole-source third party trainer (not us) or require only a state-sponsored final exam. We’ve not created courses in those states because it’s tough to compete with free.
Fortunately we save you the hassle of learning what’s required where by linking to the best solution in every state, whether it’s us or someone else. Go to our home page map of the US and click on a state to find your training solution, whether it’s us or someone else.
What about reciprocity? Reciprocity means one state will honor another state’s UST training certificate. While somewhat popular in 2012, more and more states are abandoning reciprocity because it doesn’t appear to adequately train operators for the state they are in. We are removing all of our reciprocity courses and creating state-specific ones where we can.
What about Class C in multiple states? Because the class C requirements are more universal than Class A/B, we’ve created a super-Class C course that meets the strictest state rules and is therefor approved in 30+ states. The remaining states don’t approve third party Class C courses but allow them. Only a few states, CA and PR don’t allow the third party online option.
