Do you have field-constructed UST’s or an airport hydrant UST system and would like customized Class A/B or C UST operator training? We’ve got a solution.
Background: A very small but critical part of the UST universe includes field-constructed underground tanks and airport hydrant system UST’s. These types of tanks were deferred from Federal UST regulations until around 2015 largely because very little of the typical gas station UST regulations applied to these gigantic and potentially high-pressure systems. Per the US EPA rules, these are called Subpart K UST systems. Subpart K tanks rarely, if ever, have automatic tank gauges, interstitial monitoring, line leak detectors, drop tubes, or spill buckets. However, they are regulated, and with regulations come the obvious requirement of UST operator training.
First Subpart K Class: A number of years ago, I found myself in front of a group of operators who managed what turned out to be the largest UST system in the United States. It was definitely field-constructed. After about 10 minutes, it became apparent that my typical gas station material wouldn’t work so we paused the class, had the group explain the entire UST system to me, and we were able to create on the fly a training program that was actually applicable to the group and the UST system.
Since that time: I was hired by the Guam EPA to provide customized Subpart K training to Guam’s multiple Subpart K operators. UST Training is the only company that we are aware of which provides class A/B and C UST operator training specifically designed for Subpart K tank operators.
