Oregon Deadline Coming Up

This just in from the Oregon DEQ…

New UST Rules in Effect October 1!

Remember that starting October, 1 the new UST Rules changes take effect. Regulated USTs are subject to additional testing requirements, and emergency generator USTs are no longer exempt from release detection requirements.

You can view Underground Storage Tank Compliance Program 2018 Rule Changes & Other Related Guidance Directive on DEQ’s web site: (https://www.oregon.gov/deq/FilterDocs/ust2018RulesDirective.pdf) for more information on the new requirements around

Monthly walkthrough inspections
Overfill prevention equipment tests
Spill prevention equipment tests
Containment sump tests
Operability tests for release detection equipment

DEQ encourages owners and permittees to take the necessary steps to comply with the new requirements now. All requirements be- come enforceable on October 1st. This means that, in order to remain compliant with UST statutes, and avoid the possibility of financial penalties, you must complete all required testing on or before October 1st.

We anticipate Service Providers will be very busy as this due date approaches. Contact Steve Paiko at [email protected] for a current list of service providers who are able to do this work.

2020 PEI Show Goes Virtual

Although we can’t meet our friends face-to-face at this year’s PEI Show at NACS, we are excited to help spread the word that the convention is a go virtually with a new date of November 12, 2020.

From PEI today:

Dear PEI Member:

It’s true. Last week, we cancelled the 2020 PEI Convention at the NACS Show, scheduled for Oct. 11-14 in Las Vegas, on the order of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

However, if the global pandemic and economic shutdown have taught our industry anything, it is that we can adapt. In that spirit, we invite you, your colleagues and customers to join us Nov. 10-12 at the 2020 PEI Virtual Convention.

The 2020 PEI Virtual Convention is no simple Zoom meeting or webinar. Each day will include about 4 hours of programming and activities. Key presentations also will be viewable on demand at your convenience. By participating in the virtual event, you’ll experience many of the same elements that have made the in-person PEI Convention so special.

NACS Show Canceled, New Virtual Experience To Be Introduced

This just in…

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—As part of daily communications with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), NACS was informed that the 2020 NACS Show, scheduled for October 11-14, cannot be held due to the ongoing pandemic.

“It is with heavy heart that we make this announcement,” said NACS President and CEO Henry Armour. “We had worked closely with the health department with jurisdiction, the LVCVA, our official partners, vendors and other stakeholders to develop a world-class ‘city within a city’ that prioritized safety for our attendees and staff. At the same time, there are issues beyond our control that led to this decision.”

“We know that this decision is disappointing to our entire community of retailer and supplier attendees, as well as our NACS Show supporting partner organizations PEI, PMAA and Conexxus,” Armour added. He said that NACS will be directly communicating to registered attendees and exhibitors no later than August 7 to quickly facilitate full refunds for the event.
