We recently discovered that the National Workgroup on Leak Detection Evaluation (NWGLDE) moved their website over to NEIWPCC. See https://neiwpcc.org/nwglde/
You might want to make a note because the previous link of 20+ years did not leave a forwarding address.
As you may know, this group provides a catalog of all the third party certification standards for leak detection equipment that are governed by the underground storage tank rules nationwide.
Recently we attended the PEI show at NACS in Las Vegas and had a great visit with the folks at OPW. For those who don’t know, OPW is a premier global manufacturer of many of the parts that make up your UST system.
Here are some great instructional resources to pass along to your team:
Retail Fueling Basics. From the OPW University: Learn about all the parts of a UST system, what they’re called, how to identify them, and how they work.
Interactive Forecourt. Jump underground and interact virtually with all the below ground parts. Super cool and very instructive.

We’ve shared these links before, but it seems like it’s time again to share with Class A/B UST operators that can be subject to flooding, wildfires, severe weather and climate change. The US EPA has provided some excellent documents that can help you plan and respond to these natural disasters.

NEIWPCC has proudly co-sponsored the National Tanks Conference (NTC) in partnership with U.S. EPA’s Office of Underground Storage Tanks (OUST) and the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO) since 2005.
Ben Thomas of UST Training has gone to this conference every time since 1997 and he can tell you it’s the best of the best regarding tank conferences.
Our friend, Mark Barolo, EPA’s national underground storage tank Director has written a great summary of the 40 year successes of the UST Program. Read more.
We’ve come so far, but we still have a long ways to go.
Remember, the lowest bidder isn’t always the best!
