Why you shouldn’t put boxes in front of your ATG

March 1, 2020

Convenience stores are very busy locations. On any given day, there are deliveries, supplies, and equipment that can block your automatic tank gauge. As a Class A/B UST operator, you’re the person in charge of the day-to-day compliance for your site, and you need to know where to get critical information on your system.

In this example, we see that the area in front of the ATG is clear and free of obstructions, and easy to get to. That means the operator knows this is an important and critical part of compliance.

Because the area is clear, we can see tank information. We can see there are no alarms, because the light is green. We can see the certificate of completion for the Class A/B operator is posted on the wall, to show that this operator has been certified.

The automatic tank gauge is a centerpiece of environmental compliance and you need to make this a priority as a daily operation.
