March 23, 2020

Hi, this is Ben Thomas with UST training with a special tank savvy minute edition about the coronavirus. We want to make sure you folks are being safe and smart and savvy with your UST systems in the time of the coronavirus. We’re working hard to make sure we keep you appraised and updated on important news and information about the coronavirus as it relates to the underground storage tank world. I actually just got a call a little bit ago from someone saying hey I’ve got this alarm you can see it on my phone here T1 leak alarm. There is a leak in tank number one at this particular site so we, it’s official guys you know tanks and piping still leak even in the times of corona virus and so I want to make sure we’re continuing to do all of our environmental compliance checks while we are being safe and smart. I’m recording this video at my office rather than at a real live gas station trying to avoid unnecessary travel. I am still filling up my vehicles at local gas stations that is safe to do we’ll talk more about that later. A couple big questions were going to try to be answering today. Are our gas stations open and convivence stores open today? Yes, they are considered essential services and for the time being they will remain open. What can I do to safely pump fuel at a service station, I’ll be talking more about that just you know be safe and smart and use proper hygiene. What our gas station is doing to be safe, the local gas stations I’ve quizzed are going to great lengths to assure customers that they’re keeping all their equipment clean and sanitized. Our service techs going be coming out and servicing tanks and pumps and dispensers and whatnot. The answer for the time being is yes there are very many brave service techs out there making sure that you can actually get gasoline and are fixing repairs and whatnot. What if anything is being done differently about looking for leaks and what are my environmental compliance requirements, have they changed the short answer is everything’s remaining the same. We’re going to be encouraging people to do environmental compliance with the short staff and the limitations of travel that we have. We’ve added a special link on our webpage to provide you with some daily updates and make sure that you can get the most current news information about being safe at a UST system. We want to be safe we want me to be smart we want you to be tank savvy. This is Ben Thomas with UST training this has been a special edition of the tank savvy minute.
