EVO 550 – Looking at Sensors

February 5, 2018

Hi, this is Ben Thomas with UST training, and this is a tank savvy minute. Many underground storage tank systems today are double walled, meaning there is double wall tank, double wall piping and a little sensor in between what’s called the interstitial space. This is looking for liquid, fuel or water or where it’s not supposed to be. At this particular Evo 550 site we click on the little quick jump button there we just click on the sensor button, and we see that the site has interstitial sensors, and an interstitial sensor looks something like this and there’s a little float inside here. You can hear the boat and if liquid gets into the containment sump it will raise the float and trigger the alarm. So, imagine that big lid outside your store, there’s a submersible turbine in there and there’s a little sensor at the bottom. That sump should be clean and dry if not the sensor will find the liquid, alert the tank gauge and then you respond accordingly. This is Ben Thomas with UST training, this has been a tank savvy minute.
