Attention Georgia UST Class A/B UST Operators: By December 15 of this year, you must have completed the following periodic inspection and testing requirements:
Every Month
- 30-day walkthrough inspection
Every Year
- Release detection equipment function testing
- Visual sump inspection
Every 3 years
- Sump tightness testing
- Spill bucket tightness testing
- Overfill prevention equipment function testing
Some practical advice
- Everyone usually waits until the last minute; the sooner you start the better.
- High failure rate is common, especially leaky sumps and spill buckets.
- There may not be enough replacement parts and licensed contractors by late summer.
- Start doing the 30 day walkthrough inspections now to become familiar with the process.

Note if your UST system was installed after 12/15/207, then most of these rules are in effect now.
If you’ve not taken our Georgia Class A/B UST Operator Training course, these requirements are spelled out in the latest version of our course. We’ve spruced up the course a bit so it’s easier to watch and learn. Check it out.
