Hi, this is Ben Thomas with UST Training, and this is a tank savvy minute. Today we’re going to talk about a groundwater monitor well. You find these at some sites but not all sites. A groundwater monitor well, imagine a pvc pipe that goes into the ground that’s slotted and allows groundwater to fill in and if there’s groundwater contamination you can put a groundwater baler down there and make the measurements and see whether or not contamination is still in the ground. You typically find these at a site where there’s been previous contamination this just might be for follow-up sampling. You want to make sure that this thing is locked and secure like this one is it’s bolted down and you want to make sure. I’ve heard stories about drivers actually filling these things up thinking they were fill openings. You want to make sure that no one’s able to get in there and access and tamper with them.
