Important Oregon Deadline October 1

April 16, 2020

Attention Oregon UST owners and operators. By October 1, 2020, all UST systems in the state must have completed a number of periodic tests and inspections.

These include:

  • 30 day walkthrough inspection
  • Annual visual sump inspection
  • Annual release detection function test
  • 3-year sump tightness test
  • 3-year spill bucket tightness test
  • 3-year overfill device function test

Completing all these important tasks can and will take considerable amount of time and effort.

A few things to consider:

  • Everyone usually waits until the last minute; the sooner you start the better.
  • High failure rate is common, especially leaky sumps and spill buckets.
  • There may not be enough replacement parts and licensed contractors by late summer.
  • Start doing the 30 day walkthrough inspections now to become familiar with the process.
