Hi, this is Ben Thomas at UST training with a very important tank savvy minute. We’ve recently learned through a Department of Defense report that automatic tank gauges can and have been the target for cyber-attacks. Cyber-attackers can actually disable equipment by damaging it through Remote programming, can change program settings, can isolate and basically shut off alarms and conditions and things like that so what you think your tank a is doing it’s actually not because it’s been damaged through a cyber-attack. If your automatic tank gauge is connected to the internet and many are today because of remote monitoring capabilities, you want to make sure you absolutely limit accessibility from the internet to your tank gauge in the first place. You want to make sure your tank gauge is also not wired into other parts of your network flow of information. You want to make sure that there is a firewall in place, you want to make sure that you could have a secure method for remote access to make sure that remote access comes in that that security levels controlled so other people can’t get in there and mess up your program settings. Take cyber security seriously with the automatic tank gauge, it could be coming to your tank gauge next. This is Ben Thomas with UST training this has been a very important tank savvy minute.
