Hi, this is Ben Thomas, and this is a tank savvy minute. How do you know that your underground storage tank will not overfill during a delivery. Some sites are equipped with a overfill alarm so when the driver is making a delivery when the tank capacity gets to 90% full an overfill alarm goes off sending off a bright warning light signal and a high audible alarm. It’s important to know that if you have one of these that they need to be tested every 3 years to make sure that they are functioning properly. They don’t stop an overfill but they definitely alert the driver to make sure that the tank is not overfilled if they hear the overfill alarm goes off, they’ve only got a couple minutes until the tank is completely topped off. Again, it doesn’t stop anything, but it does alert the driver and hopefully prevents an overfill disaster from happening.
