Site Safety and UST Inspections

October 23, 2024

Hi, this is Ben Thomas with UST training, and this is a tank Savvy minute. If you are someone who does a daily or a 30-day walkthrough inspection at your UST site I want, you to be very, very careful. We’re here at a super busy site it’s right around lunchtime probably not the best time to do an inspection but the point here is that I want to be able to tell you, you have to be safe personal protective clear like gloves safety cones steel toed shoes those are all important because when you’re out on a tank pad and you’re lifting up lids and maybe becoming exposed to a gasoline and diesel but the biggest problem here in my opinion at this site is the traffic. If you’re doing an inspection, you can’t assume that the customer at your gas station is going to be able to see you so it’s absolutely critical you establish a safety perimeter and you have personal protective gear and you’re doing it the right time of day to make sure that you are being safe. 30-day inspections are important, but your safety is even more important please be safe when you’re going out and doing your inspections. This is Ben Thomas with UST training this has been a tank savvy minute.
