Hi, this is Ben Thomas with UST training, and this is a tank savvy minute. Today we’re going to talk about suction system, suction pump motors at a UST site. Certain systems have pressurized piping systems this particular one has a suction pump motor inside it. In fact, the way to tell is to go like that, hear that sound hear that motor whirring inside the cabinet that means we have a suction pump system. A suction pump system means you’re sucking fuel out of the tank instead of pushing it out. A lot of busy modern convenience stores have submersible turbine pumps and pressurized piping pushing fuel into the dispenser. This particular one is a suction pump motor suction pumps are infinitely safer because if there’s a break in the suction line the fuel just simply drops back into the tank suction pump systems do you have one or not do this simple test.
